Separation of Church and State
- Posted by krin B. PerryI don't understand why the issues of abortion and gay marriage have to color almost every decision made by the state and federal governments. These two issues skew and delay action on almost everything from health care reform to selecting and approving a supreme court judge. There is no law in the USA that tells a woman she has to choose abortion, nor is there one that requires any religion or church denomination to perform or sanction gay marriages. That's how separation of church and state works.
OBAMA-MAN....the Next SuperHero
- Posted by AlphaOhTwoIt's all well and good for people to be exited and happy about President Elect Obama, but to be swept up in this starry eyed Idealism is just plain naive. It's okay to have your "Faith in America restored" (even if this is a far-feteched idea that deserves "tut-tuting" from all of us Real Cynics); but it seems to be people have lost their minds and decided that President Elect Obama is actually the American Messiah.
Financial Melt Down
- Posted by Conservative.WarriorThe Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) was passed in 1977 by the Carter administration to encourage lending institutions to meet the needs of borrowers in all segments of their communities, including low- and moderate-income people. The Act had good intentions to reduce discriminatory credit practices. To enforce the statute, federal regulatory agencies examined lending institutions for CRA compliance when approving applications for new branches or for merger
Scrap the new bailout plan and use THIS one
- Posted by aaronretThis is a very interesting plan that was sent to me via e-mail:
*Now here's a bailout plan I could enjoy.*
*Whoever T. J. Birkenmeier is, I sincerely salute him.
I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG.
Instead, I'm in favor of giving $85,000,000,000 to America in
a We Deserve It Dividend.
To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000
bonafide U.S. Citizens 18+.
Our population is about 301,000,000 ± counting every man, woman
and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up..
Sarah Palin is a BAD idea. Here's why.
- Posted by aaronretAfter Seeing Sarah Palin giving her speeches and rants over the last few weeks, I have been inspired to compile a large list of many reasons why Sarah Palin is a horrible and corrupt candidate. I deeply encourage everyone to spend the time and read all of these to understand the truth behind Sarah Palin. All of the following statements have been gathered from real, respectable sources.
1. If/when John McCain dies from old age/his 5th bout of cancer, Sarah Palin would become president.

Who's running for Congress?
- Posted by mmcgownIn an August 2nd article, a Washington Post story began with this sentence:
"After two months of fever-pitch debate over how to deal with the soaring price of oil, Congress left town yesterday without doing anything on energy."
And in a recent interview with Bill Moyers on PBS, Boston University Professor Andrew Bacevich said:
"The Congress no longer is able to articulate a vision of what is the common good. The Congress exists primarily to ensure the reelection of members of Congress."
