I read the paper today and the news unnerved me!! It turns out that McCain's being advised on econmics by none other than good ole boy and ex-Texas Senator Phil Gramm.
Gramm's recent mean spirited comments regarding Americans who are just 'whining' too much about economic woes and his attitude that the downturn is just all in our heads - a 'mental recession' he called it - is so Republican spin sounding that made my blood pressure explode. Sure, I guess it's all in our heads - and our pocket books everytime we fill up our cars or go to the grocery store.
I even have staunch Republican friends who have always had plenty of everything who are now experiencing hard times from their million dollar resort home. They're even having to sell their luxury yacht. I wonder if 'it' is all in their heads? Or, is it just in the heads of those who tend to vote Democratic - you know, those liberals who are all fat, unpatriotic socialists?
From now on, I'll try to curb my whining to solely political observations. I think I'll begin with the fact that Phil Gramm is now back in the news. That makes me perfectly ill. I had so hoped he would fade away into the sunset after leaving -Thank God! - the Senate. Could we possibly see him as a Vice-Presidential candidiate for McCain? God forbid it. It woud be the resurretion of another Dick Cheney type. My, my. We could really have 8 more years of the Bush troupe!
Now that's real whining!!!! And really, really scary!!!
