Meg Whitman, the former boss of eBay is running for governor of California. And she should. So should more people that know anything about running a business and nothing about politics. Not that she does not know about politics, who doesnt. But she know how to run a business and that is what we need right now, as Washington is spending billions and has no idea what they are doing.
Governor
Hutchinson, a case for a ban on career politicians.
- Posted by AllenAfter 16 years as a US senator, Kay Bailey Hutchinson decided to retire. So, what is the next logical move? Run for Governor of Texas!
WHY? Because there is no ban on career politicians and no term limits. We keep recycling the same old people. Are we really short of new talent or are we really that lazy and dont want to take the time to learn about anybody new.
But wait, she is not really resigning yet. She wants to run for governor, keep her senate seat and see how it goes before she really resigns and.....what kind of plan and committment is that?
The new age of Stunt Politics
- Posted by JackIt all started innocently enough. A national campaign, in real trouble, needs a boost. A sane decision just will not do it. It would take a stunt or two to bring it back to life, even if ever so briefly.
That was of course the tactic of John Mccain. First, he suspended his campaign for a couple of days to deal with the economic crisis. What a stupid stunt!! Then, he picked Sarah Palin for his running mate. What a second stupid stunt!!
But hey, if that is the new trend in politics, why not try it again?
Republican leaders abandon family values claiming that they are sick and tired of being hypocritical.
- Posted by AllenSouth Carolina governor, Mark Sanford, the head of the Republican Governors Association, admitted to cheating on his wife. He of course apologized to her and his four sons, and agreed to step down from his post as the head of the republican governors. (OMG, here comes Palin??)
He is the second republican in less than two weeks to admit to cheating on his wife and abandoning those very basic family values. Values, mind you, which they preach and push and try to use to distinguish themselves from those moral(less) democracts.
Chad's Economic Tidbits
- Posted by Chad.Mitchell8Hi, Everyone this my first post on this forum, so I wanted to take a second and reflect on our current economic state.
I feel at this point that the president strongly believes that spending more money right now will put us in a better position to compete in the future marketplace.
In Texas the Perry/Hutchinson race will define the future of the Republican party.
- Posted by AmazedThe feud between Limbaugh and Steele, the RNC chair, is amateur hour.
The feud to watch is the Texas race for governor between republican Perry and republican Hutchinson. The party faithful will have to take sides. The winning side will be the next iteration of the republican party. It may even spawn a future Presidential candidate.
Correction: it's not "innocent until proven guilty" it's "presumed innocent until proven guilty"
- Posted by bogdanWhy do I bring out this point? Now that the Illinois governor is being pressured by most to resign (which he will eventually do after some required protesting, blah blah blah) we are being reminded by some misguided supporters of his, that in this country a person is innocent until proven guilty.
Wrong. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty. What's the difference? The expression or principle of law merely sets out who has the burden of proof at a trial. Meaning, the prosecution goes first and has to establish that a crime was commited beyond a reasonable doubt.
Dear Sarah, its earmarks, not earings.
- Posted by AmazedPalin keeps repeating the refrain, that she has not and will not take earmarks and will say no to the offer to waste taxpayers' money on her state or any other.
Together with her new, old, friend, McCain, she will save millions if not billions of dollars by stopping the politics of old and ushering a new era into Washington.
OK. Stop reading the tele prompters. You took millions in earmarks. You hired high powered lobbysts to get earmarks. You spent the earmarks.
(OK. You bought your own lipstick. )
Lipstick comment was appropriate.
- Posted by citizenKObama says he did not mean to mock Palin's lipstick comment. Even if true, which I cannot believe, it was an appropriate use of the famous expression.
Other than lipstick, what exactly is Palin's talent and contribution to the republican ticket?
She is facing an investigation into her abuse of power; she lies about the "bridge to nowhere"; she took plenty of earmark money, which she now rejects; she mispent taxpayers' money on dubious reimbursements; and she has that screecheeeee voice that could annoy a deaf person.
Democrats keep getting caught with female prostitutes...Republicans jelous!
- Posted by AmazedRepublicans demanded that Governor Spitzer resign immediatly after the news broke that he was involved with a female prostitute.
Republicans just cannot stand it that their sex scandals almost always involve boys/men and the democrats seem to prefer women.
But seriously; as long as we keep thinking that the people we elect are of higher and better moral fiber than the rest of us, this kind of news will always come as a surprise.
Get over it and enjoy the news. A welcome break from the campaign.
