Economy

No Fear! Just imagine!

Saw the pictures of the long lines at INDYMAC on the news yesterday.

I don't feel worried, however, because ex Senator Phil Gramm has reported that it is in our collective imaginations.  You know, the old 'mental recession' thing - a mirage on the TV screen and all.

By the way, the Emperor has beautiful new clothes, too!

Just Thinking

Oops! The cat's out of the bag. The GOP really doesn't give a flip about the economic woes of the country.

I read the paper today and the news unnerved me!!  It turns out that McCain's being advised on econmics by none other than good ole boy and ex-Texas Senator Phil Gramm.

Help Hillary! Now that you are not so busy, can you help with the high gas prices??

If Senator Clinton wants to do something about the high gas prices she certainly could introduce legislation to do so.

Why is she not doing something now that she has some quality time on her hands? Why is she not rallying the other democratic senators to do something? Why is she not pressuring the President to do something?

It is interesting how she sold herself during the primaries. No end to what she would do for the little guy. Now that she is out of the selling business the tune changes.

Not surprises, but always sickening.

Hillary and McCain forget they are Senators

Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain are in favor of a gas tax holiday.

Stupid idea, but that is not the point.

If they really, really believe in this nonsense, all they have to do is propose some legislation. Remember, they are senators. They can actually do that.

Will they. Never. \

What is wrong with the voting public. Why do they believe in anything some politician says just because it means some more beer money.

Are we really all just Homer Simpsons???

Failure by Filibuster

It’s the end of the year and a good time to take stock of what we’ve accomplished over the last year. What were you hoping the Democratically-controlled Senate would have accomplished in 2007?

Much Ado About Air Safety

There's much ado about air traffic safety, with most of the problems occurring around the busy “Hub” terminals. In reality it doesn’t take a rocket scientist mentality to solve this problem, just common sense, pure logic and computer regulated aircraft spacing.

Cookin' Oatmeal

As a writer, I frequently fall back on using a analogy to make a point. Today is one of those times.

The analogy is comparing what the United States needs to help settle world peace as compared to cooking oatmeal on top of a gas stove.

What's wrong with this equation?

I love the Austin American Statesman!

Here's the latest in the what's wrong with this equation?

“Wynn proposes new rail project”; Front page 10/26/2007.

“This will be an extremely expensive undertaking, and Cap Metro isn’t in a position to finance it. And I’m not sure anyone else is, either”. Howard Falkenberg, Chairman of the Capital Area Transportation Coalition. page A13 same article as above, 10/26/2007.

“Dell begins cuts in local work force” Front page Business & personal finance section of the same issue, same date.

NASA Administrator Screws Up, Big Time!

This seems to be my week to write complaints.

As a tax payer I will jump in the middle of politicians and/or bureaucrats in general with reckless abandon, this is one of those times.

The TV and newspapers have both taken up the gauntlet having to do with NASA’s high handed attitude that the federal government will follow we citizens from the cradle to the grave and this is a prime example of just that!
