Health Care

After all, we Americans, are a simple people.

It doesnt take a lot of analysis to figure us out. Here is how we behave.

1. We react only to a crisis.

2. We pretty much fall for what ever a politician promises that translates into immediate gratification.

3. We hate government, but expect it to save our ass when in trouble.

4. We stay interested/upset over any issue only as long as the media focuses on it.

5. We choose our leaders based on their position on issues that really dont affect our daily lives.

Don’t just Boot Bush – Reboot

It’s pretty clear that the American people want to boot Bush & Co. out of the Whitehouse. Barack Obama’s message of change absolutely resonated in Iowa, stunning the country with an astounding win. Even on the Republican side, the insurgent who criticized the President’s “bunker mentality” beat the corporate Bush-apologist in Iowa. Change has been the recurring theme of this campaign so far.

An Opinionated Bloggers Creed

I am possibly the most opinionated individual you are apt to run into. That being said, I’ll launch into one of my favorite subjects, ”Professional Entertainers”. By my definition, a professional entertainer is one who entertains the public and gets paid for it. Now that's pretty straight forward. This embraces actors, athletes, and anyone who gets paid by the public as they ply their trade.

Where's this going? Its really simple, actors use makeup and costumes and phony accents. Athletes use costumes and pharmaceuticals to enhance their performance.

Cookin' Oatmeal

As a writer, I frequently fall back on using a analogy to make a point. Today is one of those times.

The analogy is comparing what the United States needs to help settle world peace as compared to cooking oatmeal on top of a gas stove.

Our candidates and healthcare; where do they stand; or My head hurts Now!!

I have carefully reviewed each of the candidates' health care proposals. Except Thompson who is still waiting for the Hollywood writers to finish the script.

The Dems want some form of Universal care.

The Republicans want only tax breaks...and that will solve most everything.

I even read where Clinton's plan suggests something by the second term! Shouldn't she win first.

I think that the only solution is a marriage between government and the private sector. NO, no, I dont really mean marriage requiring another constitutional amendment...

One American's Opinion

I am not against any one based on the color of their skin, gender. or religious persuasion.

I am dead set against any one who possibly endangers my country and it’s legal citizens.

The recent fiasco of permitting the illegal alien with tuberculosis to flagrantly cross our border and possibly infect untold numbers of innocent folks is a perfect example of my intolerance.

Why Do I Write?

I am occasionally asked why I write a blog, in my case it is four blogs, often on the same subject matter. Actually it amounts to four as they fall into a somewhat liberal newspaper, the Austin American Statesman, a conservative My Fox Austin, and an independent, http://www.tellmeyouridea.com/.

There is a simple reason for this diversity, the most important being that I do not feel so self important that I tell my readers what to think or vote. I often refer to myself as an on balance independent, and try to see all sides of any given question.

Bush will veto kids' health insurance bill

Bush is right to threaten to veto the kids' health care bill which, if adopted as law, would add 35 billion over the next five years to this plan.

We cannot continue to spend money on our kids when so much more money is needed to fight the terrorists in Iraq. What sense does it make to keep our kids healthy only to have them killed by terrorists who will take advantage of our reduced spending in Iraq.

Bush was right to call the Democrats irresponsible for proposing this absurd spending spree for a cause that only the Democrats could consider worthwhile.
