Keep the government out of the gulf.

The oil disaster in the gulf is the problem of the several gulf states affected and BP petrolium, not the federal government's.

This is another example of our federal government trying to accomplish too much with limited resources.

What's next, the flooding in Tennessee? Their water is clean and will receed. They dont need help, they need time and a little sunshine.

Why Meg Whitman is a Go, Kinky Friedman is a No, and Palin is a No Go.

Meg Whitman, the former boss of eBay is running for governor of California. And she should. So should more people that know anything about running a business and nothing about politics. Not that she does not know about politics, who doesnt. But she know how to run a business and that is what we need right now, as Washington is spending billions and has no idea what they are doing.

Long Live Free Markets...and Prostitution

In our modern society, too often we see big Government impose regulations on goods and services. If a good is seen as mutually beneficial by two parties, who is the Government to interfere with their transaction? However, it i key this mutual cooperation does not infringe on any person's individual rights.

Chad's Economic Tidbits

Hi, Everyone this my first post on this forum, so I wanted to take a second and reflect on our current economic state.

I feel at this point that the president strongly believes that spending more money right now will put us in a better position to compete in the future marketplace.

Is it time to re define the american dream?

What is the American dream?

Home ownership? An abundance of material things? Fame? Fortune?

Probably all of the above.

And therein lies the problem.

We have build an entire economy on the accumulation of things we cannot afford without CREDIT. We are only the most prosperous nation because we buy more things than anybody without really being able to afford it. We are not blessed. We had too much credit.

Its time to rethink. Credit is no longer king. We are no longer king.

What did The Change Team expect?

Seriously, what did The Change Team, Obama and the Democratic Party congressional leadership, really expect would happen? If you give money to someone, whether the sign-carrying roadside panhandler or the top dogs at AIG or any other "crucial-to-the-survival-of-the-economy" sinkhole, do you really expect them to do? You can tell yourself the panhandler will buy a hot lunch, or maybe some clean clothes. Perhaps your handful of spare change is what finally put him or her over the top, save them from the streets, homelessness and substance abuse. Give the panh

Don't blame AIG. Its our government that is mismanaged.

So AIG gave out millions in bonuses. President Obama is outraged. That is code for we have no way to control what companies do with bail-out money.

We all should be outraged at our government for its continued failure to put in any safety measure on how the billions in bailout money is spent.

Remember TARP, the pre election billion dollar fiasco? We gave billions to the financial services industry and had no way to make them account for how they spent it. When we asked, they refused to tell us.

Is Rush Limbaugh the voice of the Republican party? Its about time!!

Regardless of your point of view, the answer is a resounding YES.

Actually, Rush says the things all republicans have wanted to say for a long time. They are not the party of inclusion, or compassion, or of rational reason, or tolerance.

They are the party of the wealthy. They are the party of the poor who have nothing to cling to other than guns and religion and dont realize how they are taken advantage of by the rich.

They are the party that drapes itself with the american flag which is the modern day version of the white sheets of the KKK.

The Republicans are taking a big gamble in opposing the stimulus bill.

The country is ready and in need of a stimulus package.

Whatever caused the economic slump now hardly matters. It is here. Things are getting worse and something needs to be done.

The "lets see what happens if we let free markets work" is just plain stupid. It is a position that has no place in the real world. Conservative talk show hosts that have nothing to loose continue to advocate this position. Because they are now, by default, the real leaders of the republican party, the republican congress is actually following this mantra.

After almost eight years of nothing but bad, Bush finally does something right; and just in time for Xmas.

President Bush, going against the Republican party ( I would have said "his party" but that seems debatable) finally did something right as the decider in chief and ordered a bail out of the auto industry. The bailout may not ultimatly help, but can hardly hurt and will certainly give the needed financial and psychological boost to the overall economy and the stock market.

I am sure it pained him, as a free market republican, to go out on a somewhat socialistic note, but he still did the right thing.
